The Undertaker My Favorite Wrestler in WWE History !!!!

Wrestling's Greatest Rivalries: Batista vs. The Undertaker

Today begins part one of a two part article covering the rivalry of "TheAnimal" Dave Batista and "The Phenom" The Undertaker that was originally sparked in 2007. These two men needed very few words to embark on one of the most memorable series of a matches in the history of professional wrestling. This is a part of a series called Wrestling's Greatest Rivalries

On January 27, 2007, The Undertaker won the Royal Rumble by lastly eliminating “The Heartbreak Kid” Shawn Michaels. This was the first time The Undertaker had won this match, which some could argue was truly his last remaining blemish. Now, The Undertaker had a decision of which champion to face: ECW Champion Bobby Lashley, World Heavyweight Champion Batista, or the WWE Champion John Cena.

The Undertaker would line all three men up in the ring, and picked Batista. He was walking into The Animal’s cage at WrestleMania and hoping to come out with his undefeated streak still intact.

A little over a month prior to the their showdown, Batista and The Undertaker teamed up to face fellow WrestleMania 23 opponents John Cena and Shawn Michaels. Michaels had become Cena’s opponent for the WWE Championship after winning a triple threat match against Edge and Randy Orton on Raw.

Cena and Michaels would actually walk into the match as the World Tag Team Champions, in addition to walking out as winners. You see, as Batista gave Michaels a spinebuster, Undertaker executed the chokeslam on John Cena. But, as Undertaker readied to give the Tombstone to Cena, Batista nailed him with a spinebuster before walking out of the ring. This enabled Michaels and Cena to hit their finishing moves on Undertaker and emerge victorious.

Paul Heyman interview: 'The Undertaker lucked through at WrestleMania'

This weekend sees the return of CM Punk to the WWE, as he takes on Chris Jericho in his first bout since The Undertaker left him licking his wounds after WrestleMania 29.

Naturally, leading the way for him will be Mr Paul Heyman, who has never been quiet about Punk's abilities - even in the face of a beating from your Greatest WWE Superstar of All Time.

Ahead of the pay-per-view, Digital Spy caught up with Paul and talked Punk, Attitude, TNA, and why Genghis Khan would be an ultimate Paul Heyman Guy.

WWE Payback sees the return of CM Punk, up against Chris Jericho - what can we expect from him?
"You can expect to see CM Punk do what CM Punk does on a daily basis in his career, which is demonstrate to the WWE Universe that he is worthy of the distinction of being the best in the world."

When Punk stepped into the ring with The Undertaker at WrestleMania 29, did you think he could end The Phenom's streak? How did you feel about what went down?
"I think CM Punk came closer to snapping The Undertaker's streak than any other Superstar in WWE history. I think CM Punk's match against The Undertaker once again demonstrated the fact that CM Punk is the best in the world.

"Just because The Undertaker lucked through a victory. Just because the heavens were on the Deadman's side, it doesn't mean that CM Punk wasn't the most impressive performer at WrestleMania."

Sting Would Be the Wrong WrestleMania XXX Opponent for The Undertaker

Should Sting ever make his way to WWE, he would be the wrong guy to pit against The Undertaker at WrestleMania XXX or any WrestleMania after that.

At one point, a clash of the two dark personas from rival companies would have been a dream match, but no longer. Dreams that come too late are simply not as desirable.

There have long been rumors about Sting leaving TNA for WWE and, subsequently, for him to battle The Deadman, and those rumors strengthened over the last few days.

WWE.com listed Sting as the best wrestler to never wrestle for the company, saying of him, "Perhaps if there was one person who could have upended The Deadman's WrestleMania Streak, it would be Sting himself."

Speculation on WWE's part is one thing, but a recent interview on VOC Nation Radio Network (via WrestlingInc.com) with Sting furthered the rumors even more. He said, "It's no secret. I've always wanted to wrestle Undertaker; I've said that for years. And who would not want to work WrestleMania?"

Ever since WCW closed its doors in 2001, fans have wondered if the long-time WCW star would work for Vince McMahon's company. He is the biggest star working who hasn't been a part of WWE for at least a single match.
