The Undertaker : Final WWE Rivalry !!!!!!!!!!!!

WWE source expects final title run for The Undertaker this summer

A source inside WWE spoke exclusively with WWE Examiner on Thursday and confirmed recent blogosphere speculation about The Undertaker returning to action much sooner than the WWE universe expects.

With ratings for WWE programming down in the weeks following April's presentation of WrestleMania 29, WWE's creative team has been challenged to work up an unexpected scenario to play out over the coming months that will excite fans and provide longtime viewers with a fresh incentive to follow Raw.

With audiences purportedly growing tired of John Cena as WWE champion again, there is serious consideration taking place inside of the company today to put the title back on The Undertaker one last time.

Although The Undertaker, whose real name is Mark Calaway, has suffered no shortage of serious, sidelining injuries during the last five years, the 48-year-old WWE legend is said to presently be in the best health of the last decade.

If he works an easy schedule that involves more TV time than in-ring competition, WWE officials believe he could easily carry the title and thrill WWE fans around the world for several months ahead of next year's milestone WrestleMania 30.

Calaway is rumored to have confirmed to friends that WM30 will be his last WrestleMania.

On Wednesday, pro wrestling news blog Rajah reported that The Undertaker may return as early as next month to build steam toward a match at SummerSlam.

Over the weekend, WWE was discussing the possibility of The Undertaker wrestling on the show, teaming up with Kane against WWE Tag Team Champions Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns of The Shield. If Undertaker does not commit to wrestle, the match will likely be Randy Orton & Sheamus vs. The Shield.

On Thursday, however, a source inside the company told WWE Examiner that gold - either tag team gold or world championship gold - will all but certainly be on The Undertaker before the end of summer

Despite rumors professing that The Undertaker's last WrestleMania match next year will be against John Cena or Brock Lesnar, the current mood in the company is favorable toward a match between The Undertaker and Daniel Bryan.

The set-up would involve the current storyline, which projects a deteriorating friendship between Bryan and Kane, The Undertaker's on-screen brother.

The source in question, however, maintains that The Undertaker still doesn't want to retire undefeated at WrestleMania. If Calaway gets his way, The Undertaker will not go to his sports entertainment grave with his incomparable undefeated WrestleMania streak unbroken.

On April 20, 2010, WWE Examiner reported that sources inside World Wrestling Entertainment revealed that the Undertaker wants his unprecedented undefeated run to end. Reportedly feeling that the streak has become too big - even bigger than the sport itself - the Undertaker allegedly doesn't want to wind down his phenomenal career with the streak intact.

"The Undertaker loves the business too much to retire with a legacy that's almost bigger than sports entertainment itself," a WWE source admitted at the time.

"In this day and age," said Joel Leonard of Inside Pulse, "there are few truly great accomplishments left in the WWE. In a world where a Heavyweight championship can change hands twice on a single episode of Smackdown and people are 9+ time Champions, holding the belts are not the accomplishments that they once were. A perfect WrestleMania streak can be something for wrestlers to aspire to, something that can be pointed to as a true accomplishment in the world of wrestling."

"The only problem is that nobody even comes close to a WrestleMania record like Undertaker," Leonard adds. "I can't think of another current wrestler with an undefeated streak that is bigger than 1-0. This means for the Streak to become relevant again, someone has to go undefeated for almost 20 years, and by then will audiences even know or care about who Undertaker was? Remember, a good chunk of that audience hasn't even been born yet. Letting Undertaker retire undefeated would be a great way to give the guy a real legacy, but there are so many more story options by having him lose at some point."

According to insider chatter, The Undertaker would only want someone deemed to be "the future of the company" to snap the streak so that the defeat would help cement the winning superstar as the future of the company.

As of this writing, it appears that man may be Daniel Bryan.

The Rock reportedly pressured for final WWE rivalry with The Undertaker

Ten years ago, at WWE's No Way Out pay-per-view, The Undertaker and The Rock waged an epic war shortly before Dwayne Johnson left World Wrestling Entertainment for the next seven years. Had he stuck around, a source at the pro wrestling empire tells WWE Examiner on Thursday that a WrestleMania match pitting the two icons would have been "inevitable."

And perhaps it still is, the source says, telling WWE Examiner in an exclusive interview that some within the company are lobbying hard for a blockbuster storyline that could put the two legends together in the ring for what could be their last matches in WWE.

Mark Calaway (The Undertaker) is rumored to have confirmed to friends that WM30 next April in New Orleans could be his last WrestleMania. And Johnson, having driven in more than $1 billion in box office receipts globally this year already, is reportedly finished risking potential injury in-ring to focus on his remarkable film career (which may include a turn in the next Terminator flick).

As recently as this past April, Johnson admitted in a rare interview that WrestleMania 29 may be been the stage for his last match. But sources inside WWE say Johnson could still be under contract for one more match at WM 30. After all, Johnson was present at the WM30 press conference and hinted he would be on hand in the Crescent City next year to "electrify" WWE fans at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome.

So will The Rock, one of the WWE's most sporadic superstars of the last decade, go to battle with The Undertaker, who - conversely - is one of the company's longest and most loyal performers? It's a match millions of WWE fans want to see. And based on the details WWE Examiner was privy to on Thursday, it's a match that some within WWE want to happen desperately.

With The Undertaker reportedly game for any big match "that makes sense" for him to defend his undefeated streak for, the ball may now be squarely in The Rock's court. Will the host of TNT's "The Hero" wrestle The Undertaker at WrestleMania 30? Perhaps, more importantly, should he?

WWE Universe, what do you want to happen?
